April 2008
Phone Number
As you will be aware from previous newsletter our phone system has been upgraded to accommodate a queuing system to improve telephone access to the surgery. When telephoning the surgery there will now be a list of options as follows:
- Emergencies- genuine emergencies that require immediate attention only please.
- Appointments/Cancellation
- House Calls
- Test Results- available between 1-3pm
- Other inquiries
New Consulting Room
Many of you will have noticed the building work which has taken place over the past month. We apologise for the noise and disruption caused by this. We are pleased to announce that work is now completed and we now have a new consulting room. This gives us 3 consulting rooms for the GPs to use compared to 2 previously. This should hopefully enable us to offer more appointments and improve access for consultations.
Nursing Home Project
East Kilbride Nursing Homes Project will commence from 1st April 2008. This means that each nursing home is now looked after by just one GP practice. Dr Chisholm and Partners will be responsible for all patients at Westwood House Nursing Home. Whilst we are sorry to loose our patients from the other local Care Homes we feel that the project will provide a far superior quality of care to all nursing home patients and we look forward to getting to know out new patients at Westwood House Nursing Home.
Child Health Surveillance
We are now providing CHS reviews within the practice. These were previously carried out by NHS Primary Care but our new consulting room will allow us to accommodate a clinic for theses appointments on a fortnightly basis.
Patient Comments
Our recently completed Patient Questionnaires highlighted 2 main areas for improvement within the practice. Patients were unsure when it was their turn to go through to see the Doctor/Nurse for their appointment. This has been rectified by the provision of a tannoy system to call patients through to the consulting room. Complaints regarding difficulty getting through to the surgery in the morning have been rectified by the new telephone system as above.
We would welcome any feedback, both positive and negative, regarding the above changes. Please address any written or verbal comments to Practice Manager Mrs K Morrison.
