Telephone System
We are still awaiting confirmation of a grant towards upgrading the telephone system. Once the Health Board issue this then we hope the system to be installed soon after. We would expect the new system to be up and running by the end of the year at latest.
Minor Ailments Service
The local pharmacies now have a contract with the government to offer a minor ailments service. This means that patients with minor illnesses such as constipation, diarrhoea, head-lice, worms, athlete’s foot, coughs and colds, mouth ulcers, earache, indigestion, haemorrhoids and many other illnesses can register with a chosen pharmacy to receive advice, and then if eligible for free prescriptions the pharmacist can prescribe treatment without the need to see a GP. For further information please speak to your local pharmacist or enquire at reception.
Patient Satisfaction Questionnaires
Thanks to those of you who completed patient satisfaction questionnaires recently.
Repeat Medications
Some of you may have noticed a typed note on the bottom of your prescription which says "Please see GP to review repeat medications". This is automatically generated by the computer to ensure that patients have a review of their medication on a regular basis. Please make a non-urgent appointment with a doctor regarding this. We aim to review all patients on a 6 monthly or yearly basis depending on the medication. If this message appears and you have been seen within the past 6 months for a medication review then there is no need to make an appointment for this.
Extension to Consulting Room
We are currently looking at ways to extend one of our administration/store rooms so that it can be used for daily surgeries by the GPs. This would enable us to run more surgeries and offer more appointments. This is still in the early stages of getting builder’s quotes and architect plans but we will keep you posted regarding progress
Flu Vaccinations
We expect to have supplies of this year’s influenza vaccination at the start of October. Once this is confirmed by our supplier we will arrange clinics. Details of these will be advertised on the website and in the surgery.
