Repeat Prescriptions
We operate a repeat prescription system which means that if the doctor puts your medicines on "repeat" you can tick the relevant boxes on the prescription tear-off slip, when your medications are due, and hand (or post) it to reception.
The list of medicines you can order without being seen are listed on your re-order slip which is given to you when you order a prescription. Only the medicines on this list (and any added onto the computer since your last list was printed) can be issued to you without you being seen.
You can usually arrange to order your repeat medication from your local pharmacist with their agreement. Please discuss this with them directly. The phone numbers for local pharmacies can be found on the contacts page of the website
Special Request Prescriptions
Occasionally we are able to fulfil requests for other medicines without an appointment but this is at the doctors discretion. We require certain information in this circumstance:
- Name
- Dose
- Quantity of medication
- When you last had it
- What it is for
Without such information you will require to make an appointment. Please do not request the following medication as they will require an appointment:
- Antibiotics
- Contraceptive pill - It is important to check your blood pressure every six months. Emergency one month supplies can be given if necessary.
- Hormone Replacement Therapy
- Antidepressants (unless previously authorised to request by the doctor)
Please allow 48 hours for all prescriptions to be generated then checked and signed by a doctor.
